Commonly Used Blocks in Freestanding Walls

Freestanding blocks can help provide solutions from force protection to parapet walls and corner details to cantilever options. Available in both solid and hollow-core with the signature Redi-Rock textures on multiple faces, they’re great options for finishing off a project perfectly.

Freestanding Hollow-Core Blocks are a versatile element of the Redi-Rock system used in cantilever or flood wall applications, as well as making it easier to attach barriers to the top of a wall without the need for core drilling. Freestanding Hollow-Core Blocks are also available in corner, half, and half corner varieties.

Freestanding straight blocks are textured on two sides, allowing for great looking above grade solutions. They can be used in stand-alone structures or as parapet walls to top of retaining walls. The straight freestanding block is also available in bottom, top or garden top varieties.

Variable Radius Freestanding Middle Blocks are used to help build fluid curves into walls without having to cut blocks. The recess at the end of the blocks allows for convex and concave curves. The variable radius block is also available in bottom, top or garden top varieties.

Force Protection Freestanding Middle Blocks have a 6-inch (152mm) diameter recess in each end to accommodate J-bolts that are used to secure the blocks to each other or to earth anchors. Force protection blocks are also available in top and bottom varieties. View force protection details.

Textured on three sides, Freestanding Corner Middle Blocks are used to provide polished looking end results. Freestanding corner blocks are also available in bottom, top or garden top varieties.

Efficient Barrier Helps Maximize Buildable Footprint

When a new gas station was to be constructed in an incredibly tight footprint, a slope needed to be replaced with a retaining wall that could support the existing building and parking lot on the other side of the property line. Schreiter Concrete provided the Redi-Rock blocks for the wall, including the freestanding hollow-core blocks used to create a rebar and concrete reinforced barrier directly atop the retaining wall. The space savings of tying the barrier into the wall design helped maximize the usable space in the prime location.
