Long Redi-Rock Wall Enables Development in Narrow Footprint

600 square feet (56 square meters) of retaining wall installed per day on project

In 2020, the team at Quiring General was tasked with the construction of a California senior care community limited by both a narrow footprint and a steep bordering slope. To protect the mature oak line atop the slope and maximize the lot to accommodate the 94,000-square-foot (8733-square-meter) facility and its parking space, a large retaining wall was needed.

The design team worked with Redi-Rock manufacturer, Midstate Concrete to implement a reinforced wall solution that would span nearly 950 feet (274 meters) of the project’s rear property line. To maintain a height of 20 feet (6 meters), Redi-Rock's Positive Connection (PC) blocks, where a strip of geogrid wraps through a center core slot cast in the block, were selected to construct the massive wall.

The completed Redi-Rock wall created parking space for the retirement facility, protected mature tree growth behind the property, and beautified the development with its natural Ledgestone texture.
